“That was still a mystery to many, many photographers. I used flash. We didn’t have strobe lights in those days. We used flashbulbs. Color and black and white photography. I was able to produce pictures of such perfect balance between the indoors and outdoors without being obtrusive, without making the pictures obviously… producing the feeling that a photographer was there.”
