A friend sent this link to me because she knows my love of weddings and practically anything with a Southern feel to it. Josh Goleman captured the beauty and distinction of this wedding so well, but as I learned from the couple’s website, there was quite a team of creatives that contributed to this special day. All in all I think it was fantastic and even better so well documented. Nothing beats a black and white 4×5 family portrait sitting on a truck! All of the details were so perfectly paired together. I have started working on some new images for my tree series. Especially since summer is officially here (well technically tomorrow), I have a whole new landscape of colors and textures to play with. This time I am taking the images digitally. It will be an interesting comparison to see how they measure up to my 2 and a quarter negatives from before. I would continue shooting on the Hasselblad but I lent it to Adam for school. I miss shooting with it honestly; all clunky and loud. Pressing that button sends such a rush down your spine. Nothing my G10 or 5D can replicate! But still, it is fascinating to cross-analyze different mediums. I wonder which will look more rich? Or if a difference between the two can be seen at all!

It’s amazing what you can find online these days. And no, I am not talking about cheap flights to Boise, Idaho, or you tube videos of people puking up milk (btw, I saw that James, and I think I am scarred for life).

No, what I am referring to is the serendipitous nature of finding art and beauty in the places you least expect it.

I was at work today with a little down time and I started browsing my friend Doug’s facebook page. Just like the natural progression of sites like facebook, one interesting profile led me to another, and so on. That is until I found myself on Lauren M. Brock’s page. A woman of (what appears to be) great personal style, captivated me by her gorgeous imagery. I found this polaroid of her in the rain and just had to post it. It amazes me what some people might find ordinary or just everyday, to others, could mean so much more. Not to say this girl found this image dull; she did in fact write below it, “possibly my favourite photo.”

Funny how you find things in common with people you don’t even know.

I love life’s little hidden treasures. They are out there. It is just up to us to find them.

Oh my sweet SX-70. I feel as if a little bit of me has died inside. It is truthfully the ending of an era. I am out of 600, which I now have to barter for on eBay (up to about $1.40 per image). I am down to my last five 8×10 polaroids which can’t be found anywhere, no matter the wager. Can this nightmare be over? Can I just wake up tomorrow and have Polaroid be back in business? Or, can Fuji just buy the rights already? I am starting to loose my mind (not to mention my all my money)!
