I am such a sucker for anything flag related, especially when the use of stars and the colors red white and blue are involved. Man did I luck out with this country, or what??? (This post is dedicated to Mark Grossman)

“Making pictures is a very simple act. There is no great secret in photography…schools are a bunch of crap. You just need practice and application of what you’ve learned. My absolute conviction is that if you are working reasonably well the only important thing is to keep shooting…it doesn’t matter whether you are making money or not. Keep working, because as you go through the process of working things begin to happen.”

This was painted on one of the old buildings in Telluride. I seriously want to make this into a shirt. Like a soft, distressed cotton, maybe the graphic printed inside out?? Can anyone help with this?? I really want to make it happen!!

This was my very first project in Archetype SLAM at Art Center.: a birthday present for the girls. Of course, since I put off framing it, I was punished by it being caught in the garage flood of ’07 and then developing a crazy amount of mold. Needless to say; not the healthiest present to give a two year old. Oh well, if you love something, set it free…

This was taken for my Still Life photography class at ACCD during my sixth term. That was certainly a class I struggled in since I mainly like to shoot people. Steve LaVoie, our instructor, tried to be as accommodating as possible by letting us use people (as still lifes) in a few of our projects. I think out of all of my work for that class, this was my favorite project. I’d be curious to hear some people’s take on it’s meaning.

“That was still a mystery to many, many photographers. I used flash. We didn’t have strobe lights in those days. We used flashbulbs. Color and black and white photography. I was able to produce pictures of such perfect balance between the indoors and outdoors without being obtrusive, without making the pictures obviously… producing the feeling that a photographer was there.”

Just got home from my trip to Telluride. Oh man, did we have a blast. The house is STUNNING. Seriously, there are no words. Fourth of July itself was perfect (well, besides getting a bunch of money stolen); a parade, BBQ’s, fireworks and of course Nina’s phenomenal party. We could not have asked for better weather the entire week. Minus a few falls down the stairs, everyone stayed pretty happy and healthy; Nicci and I even got a few hikes in. I went on a really cool 4×4 tour of the mining towns above Telluride and drove up to the second highest peak in the world that vehicles can drive up, over 13,000 feet. I have to say I was sad to leave but it does feel good to be home. I’ve got a lot of work to do!!
